What a football uniform usually includes
The pieces a team normally orders together. Tell us which ones you need; a set does not have to include all of them.
- Jersey
- Cut to fit over shoulder pads, with large numbers on the front and back and often smaller ones on the shoulders or sleeves.
- Pants
- Fitted, with room for pads, in a color that works with both jerseys.
- Dark and light jerseys
- Two jerseys in contrasting colors, so opponents are easy to tell apart.
- Practice jerseys
- Plain, hard-wearing jerseys for training, usually without names.

Rules worth checking
NFHS football rules number players 0 through 99 and do not allow a number written with a zero in front of it, such as 07. Rules at every level also cover which numbers certain positions wear and how clearly a number contrasts with the jersey. They are revised often, so read the current rulebook for your league before you approve a design.

American Football uniform questions
- Which numbers can football players wear?
- Under NFHS rules players are numbered 0 through 99, and a number with a leading zero is illegal. Leagues also tie some number ranges to positions, so check your own rulebook before assigning them.
- Are jerseys sized differently because of pads?
- Football jerseys are cut to be worn over shoulder pads, so a player's usual shirt size is only a starting point. Use the size chart for the exact jersey you are ordering, and have players try a sample over their pads when you can.
- How do I order football uniforms?
